Day 1

So we set off from home at about 11 something. The parents decided to be interesting and our mode of transport to the airport was........MRT! Haha, i don't know when was the last time my dad took the MRT.

The flight to Ho chi minh took about 1 1/2 hrs lydat... the first time i actually ate up the inflight food. Upon arrival, haha I felt like a star. haha, seriously... people were crowding around (orderly) at the arrival center.

My brother and i were pretending to be celebrities and started waving to these random people.

The first thing i noticed was the huge amount of motorcyclist and how they drive. Seriously, their road system is pretty interesting. Firstly, it is a left hand drive country, took me awhile to get used to that. Kept turning to my right to check the traffic. Anyway, they drive everywhere. With the flow, against the flow, across the flow. In my world, that would be chaotic and reckless driving. But i guess, with a country like this, you come up with your system of doing things. So they drive any and everywhere. You must be thinking, wouldn't there be lots of accidents. If it was Singapore.. Yes. But in vietnam.. No. They drive really slowly. Like 20km/hr... i think the fastest we have travelled was ??? 50 km/hr? I know, it felt like we placed the L plate at the back of the bus. But no, they travel really slowly.

The motorist would be cruising along the road and chatting with the motorist next to them. Yup, there are more motorist than cars... If i could describe the motorist in another way... i would use Water. They flow around the road, cars, bus, people like water.

Crossing the road in vietnam takes abit of guts and getting used to. There are not much traffic lights to guide, even so, they don't follow. So the rule of thumb is to walk across slowly, don't rush forward. Since the vietnamese are like water and flow at 20km/hr, they will easily flow around you. And they don't seem to jam brakes, they slow down pretty smoothly.

So, as i mentioned the traffic is really slow. They should have like a bus lane and a motorcyclist lane. It takes hours to travel, even though the distance is pretty short!!! Like the airport to our hotel is almost the same distance as Changi airport to town. But nooooo, it takes us 1 and 1/2 hr to travel there. Arrghh, sit until butt ache man. Oh did i mention that it was a tour group trip. haha, it's been a long while since i've joined a tour group.

Anyway, first night, explored the aread abit. The hotel's cafe had this interesting concept, Late night supper buffet from 11pm to 3pm.

Think this concept will work in Sgp??

Then we saw the price of the beer?

$1= 10,000 VND. So the draft beer at the hotel cost about $1.60. ??????? $1.60, tt's alcoholic paradise man. So i was thinking to myself... $1.60 for hotel pricing?? What will it be in the supermarket? Yup, zhi the alcoholic investigator checked it out. It cost 80 cents for a can of Tiger draft beer. Arr... I see heaven in vietnam. Haha

Bought some dried fruits... Banana Chips, pineapple chips. Really nice, ahaha ate it up within the 2nd day. Wish they will import this brand of dried fruits over... arrghh so nice to eat. I'm missing it already.

So that was about day 1, quite a waste of time... But the actions started on 2nd Day. So till then....
